Milagros Ramos Surgery Update

What a day today! My first time experiencing something of this nature, since moving here to Guat. I'd heard about this type of stuff, but not personally been involved up to this point. It blew me away to see the reaction of Milagros and her sister as we drove them into the city, far past anywhere that they had ventured out before. As grown 31 and 37 year old women, neither had ever traveled outside of one of the nearby areas. At one point, her sisters phone ring and we could overhear her saying "No conocemos donde estamos..." which means we don't know where we are. Both were just along for the ride, trusting and knowing that the time had finally come for Milagros to get help and feel better. At the appointment when it was time to fill out paperwork, Milagros wasn't able to read or fill out the forms for herself, and for a signature they just took her fingerprint, as she doesn't know how to sign or write her name. The entire experience blew me away and reminded me of the challenges that these people face, and that we face as we seek to share the love of Jesus through actions and words. One other quick highlight was taking them to Wendy's for a cheeseburger and fries, which you could tell was a once in a lifetime treat for them. (yes, Wendy's fast food!!!)

Now on to the medical status of Milagros - We took Milagros in for all tests today, as well as an ultrasound, and got the confirmation that she does, indeed, need the surgery and a complete hysterectomy. The tests showed large cysts on both ovaries as well as other complications which confirmed the original diagnosis of two years ago. We were able to schedule the surgery for this Wednesday, March 17, at 7:30 in the a.m. which was also a huge blessing to be able to get all of this done this week and get Milagros on a quick road to healing. The Doctor is convinced that the pain she has been experiencing is due to these complications and that she will be feeling great quickly.

Here's a Financial Update - At this point we have $1,000 of the $2,375 needed for the procedure. Today we had to pay half of that expense and the rest is due on Wednesday when we go in for the surgery. Pray with us and help us if you can. Visit http://www.deepstreampa.com/help/ in order to help. You can also visit http://www.deepstreampa.com/other-projects/milagros-medical-project/ for the latest updates throughout the surgery and healing process.

God Bless!
